MADERN is a Medical Association against DEhydratation and Risk Nutritional. We are Medical Students and Doctors trying to find solutions to the main issues of tomorrow: Water and Nutrition.

Many diseases have multifactorial origins. There is increasing evidence that dehydration plays a role in the development of various morbidities.

Dehydratation may be indicated in patients with cardiovascular disorders, pronounced chronic renal failure, hypoalbuminemia, endocrinopathies, or in tumor patients and menace of water intoxication.

Acute systemic dehydration may be a pathogenic factor in oligohydramnios, prolonged labor, cystic fibrosis, hypertonic dehydration, and renal toxicity of xenobiotica. Local mild hypohydration may play a critical role in the pathogenesis of several broncho-pulmonary disorders like exercise asthma. 

Nutritional alterations are frequent in patients with active oncological pathology. The prevalence of malnutrition in this group is 15-20% at the time of diagnosis and 80-90% in patients with advanced disease.

The different tumors show nutritional risks according to their location, their degree of involvement of the digestive tract and the type of cancer treatment established. Malnutrition is a frequent complication in cancer patients and it is significantly associated with an increasement in morbidity/mortality.
